Removing all urlclassifier* files can prevent the use of megabytes of storage in your firefox profile. If you remove all the urlclassifier* files, you may find out that urlclassifier3.sqlite keeps growing again after a certain time. Here is a simple solution to avoid it for now and ever.
FireFox Tweak Network 1.6 Add Ons
Firefox's user interface can be modified by editing the userChrome.css and userContent.css files in /.mozilla/firefox/profile/chrome/ (profile_dir is of the form hash.name, where the hash is an 8 character, seemingly random string and the profile name is usually default). You can find out the exact name by typing about:support in the URL bar, and searching for the Profile Directory field under the Application Basics section as described in the Firefox documentation.
In order to for example disable the behavior that selects the contents of the address bar on first click, or to allow to double click the URL to select it in full, see user contributed scripts such as -omni-tweaks
In order to get smooth physics-based scrolling in Firefox, the general.smoothScroll.msdPhysics configurations can be changed to emulate a snappier behaviour like in other web browsers. For a quicker configuration, append the following to /.mozilla/firefox/your-profile/user.js (requires restart):
In about:config set network.protocol-handler.expose.magnet to false. In case it does not exist, it needs to be created, right click on a free area and select New > Boolean, input network.protocol-handler.expose.magnet and set it to false.
The next time you open a magnet link, you will be prompted with a Launch Application dialogue. From there simply select your chosen BitTorrent client. This technique can also be used with other protocols: network.protocol-handler.expose..
I've done everything suggested with no real resolve. I even uninstalled Firefox and wiped out every trace of it from my entire system. I saved the three file Key4.db, logins.json, places.sqlite in another location.I entered "about:config" and searched for "browser.tabs.remote.autostart". I had the problem of multiple processes running in task manager. I toggled it false as recommended. Now Firefox 58.2.0 stills uses too much memory as I surf the web. The crazy thing is now sometimes Firefox completely disappears when viewing processes in task manager. Memory usage is running close to 50% but the firefox process is invisible. I have 6gig of Ram.The latest version of Firefox is using too many resources. Cpu and Memory are both constantly too high. Windows 10 becomes slow and even laggy at times.
I'm having the same problem. Just installed firefox yesterday. Super high CPU usage also. With only one tab open at fullscreen playing plinga game. Just updated graphics drivers. Maybe I'll go back to Chrome at this point.
I think I have a workaround for you. First, you should grab the Stylish extension, which is an add-on that lets you store rules to tweak the display of both web pages and Firefox itself. You can get that here: Stylish @ Add-ons for Firefox.
Name and save the rule. You can tweak it by making the border thicker, specifying a different color, etc. I only targeted the left and right borders, but if you wanted to change the others, I think it would work the same way (at least the bottom, not sure about the top).
Thanks jscher2000, it almost works. But these settings doesn't change border near the close-button and firefox-button that i need. For change it I tried to add new setting into #navigator-toolbox, but this didn't makes needed change, in addition resulted to disable #browser section.
In this illustration we can see that unlike earlier, where a network request was needed for each subresource on the reloaded page, this time we can just read each file directly from cache without being blocked on the network.
The purpose of this setting is to make it easier to discover vulnerable SSH servers, just like explained previously this opens up more potential attack surfaces (which is how this came about, due to a recent pentest, a Uninterruptible Power Supply gave us our foothold to complete network pwnage).
Ubuntu 22.04 was released this Thursday. It seems to be the most significant Ubuntu release since Ubuntu 16.04. Most of the issues related to workflow and performance have been fixed in the Gnome 42 release. The main Ubuntu distribution (with some tweaks and extensions) is finally usable as a daily driver.
If you are facing slow network speeds and timeouts on Ubuntu 22.04, then your internet service provider is likely to blame. Many ISPs have slow DNS servers that cause delays and timeouts when loading web pages.
Firefox 23 was released on August 6, 2013. It includes an updated Firefox logo, mixed content blocking enabled by default to defend against man-in-the-middle attacks, implementation of the form control attribute in HTML5, dropping support for the HTML element as well as the text-decoration:blink CSS element, the restriction to have to "switch to a different search provider across the entire browser", and a global browser console, a new network monitor among other things. JavaScript is automatically enabled by the update, without regard to the previous setting, and the ability to turn it off has been removed from the interface;[110] the "contentious" change was made because many websites depend on JavaScript and it was felt that users unaware that they had disabled JavaScript were attributing the resulting unpredictable layout to software bugs in Firefox.[111]
Firefox 62 was released on September 5, 2018, for both desktop and Android. Among the many additions were: FreeBSD support for WebAuthn, a preference that allows users to distrust certificates issued by Symantec in advance of removing all trust for Symantec-issued certificates in Firefox 63, improved graphics rendering for Windows users without accelerated hardware using Parallel-Off-Main-Thread Painting, CSS Variable Fonts (OpenType Font Variations) support, support for CSS Shapes, allowing for richer web page layouts (desktop), improved scrolling performance, faster page load times over Wi-Fi connections by loading from the network cache if disk cache is slow, and "Product and feature tips" toggle in Notifications settings (Android).[384][385] The bookmarks' Description field was deprecated and will be removed completely in future releases.
Firefox 80 was released on August 25, 2020, for desktop, and on August 31 for Android. Among the many additions were: the setting as the default system PDF viewer; the new add-ons blocklist enabled to improve performance and scalability; support for RTX and Transport-cc for improved call quality in poor network conditions and better bandwidth estimation and better compatibility with many websites using WebRTC (desktop); and the return of the Back button (Android).[515][516]
You can limit the upload and download throughput to a fixed rate (the minimum rate is 50 KB/sec, and the maximum rate is 100,000 KB/sec). The lower the rate, the longer it will take your files to upload and download. Instead of limiting upload throughput to a fixed rate, you can also set it to "Adjust automatically." This setting enables the OneDrive sync client (OneDrive.exe) to upload data in the background by only consuming unused bandwidth and not interfere with other applications using the network.
If you're on a slow network temporarily, you can pause syncing instead of setting limits on the upload and download rates. To do this, click the OneDrive icon in the notification area on your taskbar, select in the activity center, click Pause syncing, and then select how long you want to pause syncing.
Some things that would be nice tho, is to get this as a wider program. Not just a firefox adon. Think of this running in the background of your computer at all times, doing what you want with just pressing to buttons and typing a command?
Sounds nice, really nice but is this planned to only be a firefox extension or is there any future to this being something that (oneday?) could work with any browser? kind of like QS or Launchy? I get the impression this is kind of like combining Launchy with yubnub no? Anyway, looks promising, might be enought to make FF my primary browser (maybe).
same problem as someone above. Just update to FF 3.0.3 with ubiquity 0.1.2.And firefox became so slow on starting, and on all new windows opening.I isolate ubiquity, with safe mode of firefox, as the cause of all that.
I love it.Unfortunately, after installing it, I find it takes considerably longer for my firefox to start up. This is a deal-breaker for me, but I realise this is only a prototype. I look forward to trying again whne the project is more polished.
I had to convert all my email accounts to GMAIL because I was unable to keep both my email client and firefox open for more then 2-3 hours before rebooting and getting the white screen. Although, I prefer it now .. is not relevant ?
In particular, Atul for architecting and thinking about trust networks, Jono for the logic of the parser and fledgling internationalization, Blair for writing many of the commands, and Abi for being the glue (especially in documentation) that keeps things together. This is community-based collaboration.
IANA Time Zone Database, on which JDK's Date/Time libraries are based, has made a tweak to some time zone rules since 2021c. Note that since this update, some of the time zone rules prior to the year 1970 have been modified according to the changes which were introduced with 2021b. For more detail, refer to the announcement of 2021b
